  • Birmingham’s murals brightened neighborhoods across the city in 2025.   • The Birmingham City Council approved a $1 million pledge for a new 98-bed emergency shelter at the Jimmie Hale Mission located at 3401 Second Ave. North; the project is slated to break ground in 2026 to support homeless residents.  AL.com

  • Jennifer Creswell regained her confidence after undergoing two eye surgeries at UAB Hospital-Callahan Eye earlier this year to correct strabismus from a 1997 car accident — the treatment eased her double vision and migraines.  WVTM 13

  • Moody High School was fined and placed on probation by the Alabama High School Athletic Association after photos emerged of staff and players smoking cigars in the UAB locker room following their championship win.   • Derrick Henry became the fourth player in NFL history to record 3,000+ yards in his first two seasons with the Baltimore Ravens.
