- ➤ Coca-Cola UNITED donated a van to Community Kitchens of Birmingham to help deliver healthy meals to residents in need. The nonprofit, which serves over 44,000 meals each year in Southside, Woodlawn, Kingston and East Birmingham, will use the van to extend its service across local neighborhoods. The Birmingham Times

- ➤ Construction workers installed the Dynamic Ribbon—Coca-Cola's signature design element—on the sleek glass facade of its new $330M headquarters along Interstate 20/59 near Tallapoosa Street. The project, which began in June 2024, will add 50 new jobs and keep 750 existing ones when the company moves in in 2027. AL.com

- ➤ ArtPlay Community Education is hosting two free family events this fall — a Halloween Bash on Oct. 25 at the historic Johnson House with costume fun, music, dancing, and a reading of Room on the Broom, and a Holiday Open House on Dec. 13 featuring festive art activities, a holiday book reading and a visit from Santa. - ➤ A new documentary titled 'Birmingham's Front Lawn: 15 Years of Railroad Park' will premiere October 16 at the Lyric Theatre—sharing how a once-swampland area grew into a park that spurred over half a billion dollars in investment—while a panel discussion with key park leaders will follow. ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Drivers across Birmingham experienced relief at the pump as local gas prices dropped 5.1 cents to $2.73 per gallon—some stations selling gas for as low as $2.48 while others charged $3.58. Experts expect that falling oil prices and rising wages will push gas prices further down, with averages potentially dropping below $3 soon. ABC 33/40
- ➤ A WalletHub study shows Birmingham ranks 7th best among 100 U.S. cities for drivers thanks to many auto-repair shops, low owning costs, and minimal traffic congestion—although road safety ranks low at 85th. Birmingham is the only Alabama city included in the analysis. AL.com

- ➤ Governor Kay Ivey spoke at the Southern Automotive Conference and said Alabama’s auto industry is growing and will create more jobs. - ➤ UAB Hospital is ranked on Newsweek’s list of the best specialized hospitals for 2026 — it placed 105th in cardiology and 142nd in cardiac surgery. It was also named the top hospital in Alabama and the Birmingham metro area for the 12th year in a row in the latest U.S. News ranking. Bham Now
