- ➤ Today, hundreds of job seekers with criminal records attend the Second Chance Hiring Fair at Boutwell Auditorium—from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—in downtown Birmingham. Organized by the DA’s office, Alabama Career Center System, WorkFaith Birmingham and over 50 local employers, the event gives participants a new opportunity to secure jobs and rebuild their lives. - ➤ Urban Purpose, a Birmingham nonprofit that helps the unsheltered, held its second 'A Seat at the Table' event Monday evening near Railroad Park—about 190 people sat at a 200-foot dining table with live music from Act of Congress and food donated by Bob Sykes Bar B Q.
