- ➤ Huffman Middle School has launched the Free Goodr Grocery Store where local residents can pick up free groceries—services are expected to begin soon. 6 WBRC News
- ➤ Birmingham Greek Festival is underway and runs through Saturday at the Holy Trinity + Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Cathedral. It features authentic music, dancing and homemade Greek cuisine by parishioners with free admission, outdoor seating and a daily drive-thru option. WVTM 13
- ➤ The Tunnel to Towers Foundation bought property at 4300 Colonnade Parkway in Birmingham to create a Veterans Village that will offer supportive housing and services for roughly 110 veterans—this project will turn a former hotel into a home with case management, job help and other supports, and its groundbreaking is scheduled for October 29th at 11 a.m. ABC 33/40

- ➤ A company tied to Nebius purchased 79.33 acres—including the former Regions Lakeshore Operations Center and adjacent lots—for $90 million on September 30 in Birmingham, and this deal is expected to boost local data center development. 1819 News

- ➤ October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the One Place Family Justice Center in Jefferson County offers all necessary resources for domestic violence survivors — rising protection order requests and four homicides last month have prompted the center to boost its outreach efforts. - ➤ Furnace Fest returns this weekend as it marks 25 years since it first roared from Sloss Furnaces and now aims to draw a younger crowd of punk and alternative fans—keeping its unique community spirit alive. - ➤ The Birmingham City Council approved the removal of temporary barricades in East Lake so permanent curbs—trees and bike paths will be installed at more than a dozen spots as part of the ongoing Safe Streets program.
