  • On Monday, the 16th Street Baptist Church held a ceremony to remember the four girls killed in the 1963 bombing — an act that spurred civil rights progress — as community leaders read from scripture and shared memories.   • P.F. Chang's China Bistro in Birmingham has agreed to pay $80,000—updating policies and requiring staff training—after a job applicant said he was denied hire because he requested Sundays off for his religious beliefs. The settlement follows an EEOC investigation of an incident that occurred in August 2024.  AL.com

CULTURE NEWS

  • Today, a wreath was placed at 16th Street Baptist Church to honor four young girls killed in a racially driven bombing 62 years ago—Mary Moore and Bill Baxley recalled the loss and said it marked a key moment in the civil rights movement.  ABC 33/40
  • Late chef Michael Glenn, founder of Creative Catering by Ambrosia and Ga Briella’s Bistro and Art Gallery, died at 66 over the weekend — his soulful dishes like fried grouper and turnip greens touched many in the community. Friends and local leaders recalled his generous spirit and noted that his legacy continues through the Michael T. Glenn scholarship for Miss Alabama.  CBS 42

  • Gas prices in Birmingham fell by 3.6 cents to an average of $2.79 per gallon over the past week—though prices remain 3.6 cents higher than a month ago and 8.4 cents above last year.  ABC 33/40

  • Julianne Evers, a Birmingham native who survived childhood cancer, has worked as a nurse at Children’s of Alabama since September 2021 and now helps kids battle illness while honoring the care she once received (observed during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month).  Bham Now
