  • All Good Beverage Co. opened a new hub in the former Ghost Train Brewing Co. space on 1st Ave S near the Hugh Kaul Trail in Birmingham—offering craft beers, cocktails, local fare, and contract brewing services.   • Neo-soul singer Durand Bernarr lit up Saturn Birmingham at a stop on the You Still Gon’ Grow Too Tour as he used humor and strong vocals to capture the crowd—his work with renowned artists and a popular NPR Tiny Desk performance helped build his following before his upcoming international tour.  The Birmingham Times

  • Tarrant councilman Tommy Bryant, once acquitted for punching the mayor, won re-election by two votes on August 26 and began his fifth term amid bitter political divisions in the town—other contests advanced to runoffs for council and mayor.  AL.com
  • Gov. Kay Ivey and House Speaker Nathaniel Ledbetter (R-Rainsville) filed a motion for a temporary restraining order in Montgomery County Circuit Court on Friday against the Alabama High School Athletic Association, which had ruled that CHOOSE Act student-athletes must sit out a year after transferring. They argued the ruling violates the clear law protecting these students' right to compete and demanded immediate relief.  1819 News
  • On Thursday, Alabama Public Television announced that due to a $2 million federal funding cut — prompting staff cuts and reorganization — it will begin changes on September 30.  1819 News
