ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Authorities reported a fatal ATV collision at Indian Mountain ATV Park on Saturday that claimed two adult lives and injured seven children—hospitals transported the injured over two hours as the Cherokee County coroner's office investigated the incident. WVTM 13
- ➤ An 8-year-old child drowned in a pool Saturday night at a Hoover residence—responders reported the child was pulled from the pool at around 8 p.m. and later pronounced dead while authorities investigate the incident as an accident. CBS 42
- ➤ Three teenagers were injured when a man towing them on an inflatable boat hit a pier on Neely Henry Lake near Greensport Friday at about 5:15 p.m.—they were taken to area hospitals. CBS 42
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new state law will exempt menstrual hygiene and baby care products from state sales tax starting next Monday. The law allows local governments to opt in—aiming to lower costs for families in lower-income communities. CBS 42
- ➤ A one-cent reduction in the grocery sales tax takes effect today after House Bill 386 by State Rep. Danny Garrett was signed by Governor Kay Ivey in May—reducing the rate from 4% to 2% following recent cuts since 2023. 1819 News
