- ➤ Nathaniel Anderson, 42, was arrested in Jasper after a Tuesday morning shooting on Devon Drive that allegedly killed his stepfather Ronald Minor and critically injured his mother Carol Minor — police reported that schools were placed on lockdown during their search and Anderson is now held at Walker County Jail. - ➤ Voters in Alabama cast ballots Tuesday in municipal elections held under a new law designed to boost participation. Polls were open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and voters had to show a valid photo ID — if no candidate won a majority, a runoff is scheduled for September 23. 1819 News
- ➤ Birmingham voters cast ballots Tuesday for mayor, city council and school board seats—incumbent Mayor Randall Woodfin won with 75% while several contests without a majority move to a runoff on October 7. WBHM
