- ➤ Federal authorities in Arizona arrested 19-year-old Ignacio Miguel Tirado-Castillo for mailing 25 pounds of deadly Carfentanil to Alabama and he now faces federal charges in Alabama and Nebraska after a judge ordered him extradited—he is held without bond as a flight risk. Yellowhammer News
- ➤ Alabaster police identified three young vandals who vandalized council candidate Mike Myers’ home with eggs, nacho cheese, barbecue sauce, and feces days before the municipal election—Myers said the incident does not seem politically motivated. AL.com
- ➤ Early Friday, deputies responded to a shooting on the 4000 block of Pinson Valley Parkway near Center Point where a man was killed and a 34-year-old woman was injured and taken to a hospital—investigators are seeking public tips. WVTM 13
- ➤ On Aug 22 just after midnight, a man was shot and killed on Pinson Valley Parkway in Jefferson County while the coroner’s office said the victim was an unidentified Hispanic male and no suspects are in custody. 6 WBRC News
- ➤ Lipscomb police arrested Alfred Colvin III, 32, of Bessemer on murder charges after he fatally shot his pregnant partner, Angelicca Newtown, 29, on Thursday at 7th Avenue—5th Street and he is held without bond at Lipscomb City Jail pending extradition to Jefferson County. CBS 42
- ➤ Homewood police arrested several protesters on Friday—when officers quickly moved in on 18th Street as traffic blocked—while the demonstrators marched toward city hall demanding full transparency in the shooting of Jabari Peoples. WVTM 13
- ➤ A mother is accused of killing her daughter during a preliminary hearing in court. 6 WBRC News

- ➤ On Friday, the Sidewalk Film Festival returned with college filmmakers showcasing their work, including University of Alabama senior Jada Ceasar who produced films on barrel racing and music therapy.
