- ➤ YMCA of Greater Birmingham cut the ribbon on its renovated Northeast Community YMCA in Roebuck and opened expanded services including affordable housing + healthcare, education, mental health care and sports facilities. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ UAB Medicine’s $156.7 million Rehabilitation Pavilion — featuring 134 beds, therapy gyms, and sweeping views — will open Tuesday, Aug. 19 on Seventh Avenue South to offer advanced inpatient care. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held Monday, Aug. 18 at 10 a.m. as Dr. Nguyen said the facility will help patients heal and regain independence in Alabama, Mississippi, and the Florida Panhandle. - ➤ Beau Armistead of Sojourn Counseling in Vestavia Hills is being honored today for raising funds to provide trauma therapy for those who cannot pay.
