Developers of Phase Two at Village at Brock’s Gap in Hoover plan to expand the retail center with 79,000 square feet of new space on 8.8 acres—adding upscale dining, offices, and high-end national restaurants.

Miles Law School announced on Thursday that retired Jefferson County Judge Carole Smitherman has been named the new dean.

A Jefferson County judge ruled against dismissing a lawsuit over UAB removing a federal inmate's organs without family consent during an autopsy—used for teaching that raised concerns—and heard arguments from both sides.
