CRIME NEWS

  • The family of 3-year-old Ke’Torrius 'KJ' Starkes Jr., who died on July 22 after being left in a hot car by an Alabama DHR worker, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in Jefferson County Circuit Court against nine defendants — including worker Kela Stanford, Covenant Services Inc., and several DHR employees — alleging they failed to check on him for over five hours during a heat advisory.  ABC 33/40
  • Skeletal remains linked to a human skull that a dog found nearly a year ago on 5th Place NW were later joined by a tibia and a third bone discovered near the same home — the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office said DNA tests will be done to see if the bones match the victim killed by a gunshot wound.  CBS 42
