- ➤ A 69 year old man identified as Charles Eugene Fantozzi died in a single vehicle crash in Jefferson County when his car was found on the 8700 block of Flat Top Road Friday afternoon—he was pronounced dead at 2:43 p.m. and the Jefferson County Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating the case. - ➤ Southeastern Salvage opened its largest store this week in a former Golden Flake factory in Birmingham, covering 135,000 square feet indoors and two acres outdoors. Owner Bubba Morgan said the store is the chain’s largest of 11 stores and now sells home décor from around the world while keeping a famous Golden Flake clock to honor local history. AL.com

- ➤ Kela Stanford missed her court hearing Monday for the death of 3-year-old Ke’Torrius Starkes after he was left in a hot car while under her care—she is set for another hearing next month and a warrant may be issued if she fails to appear. 6 WBRC News

- ➤ The metal band Pantera announced it canceled its September 8 show in Birmingham because the band needs time to grieve the loss of their friend Ozzy Osbourne, who died on July 22 after battling Parkinson’s disease — fans will receive refunds for their tickets. 1819 News
- ➤ Developers have announced plans to restore the eight‐story Prince Hall Masonic Temple downtown into a hub for Black‐owned businesses and community services. The project—expected to cost over $30 million and take about three years—will honor the building’s history in Birmingham’s civil rights district. WBHM

- ➤ United Way and Birmingham City Schools are expanding a tutoring program — originally launched after COVID-19 — to boost reading and math scores for students in grades 6–12. College students from local universities serve as tutors during school hours and earn $15 an hour. ABC 33/40

- ➤ Water service has been restored to the Patton Creek Shopping Center area in Hoover after a 16-inch water main— which failed on August 2—was permanently repaired early Monday by Central Alabama Water crews.
