- ➤ On Sunday, July 27, community members gathered at Corner High School football stadium to honor 18-year-old Treylen Anderson Floyd of Warrior and 19-year-old Tristan Drake Cox of Dora—both 2025 graduates—killed in a car crash on July 20 near Mount Olive Road where six other passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries and a raffle was organized to assist their families. 6 WBRC News
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ The city of Birmingham collaborated with local artists & cultural stewards to unveil the Smithfield Public Art Walk on July 26 along Reverend Abraham Woods Jr. Blvd near A.H. Parker High School, honoring the neighborhood's legacy of African American resilience and history. The initiative, supported by a federal grant, will also help develop over 900 affordable housing units in the area, celebrating past achievements and a future of community growth. 6 WBRC News

Mason Davis Leadership Society hosted its second annual Day of Mentoring at Girls, Inc on July 26, where local seventh, eighth and ninth graders attended workshops on financial management, business etiquette, career development + health and wellness.
