  • Recent updates in Alabama show that Sloss.Tech held its first pitch competition to boost Southeast startups and the state jumped to 19th in CNBC’s Top States for Business ranking—Germany’s Butting chose Alabama for its first U.S. production facility while a new Mobile International Airport terminal will open in the fall.   • In June, the Sloss.Tech Ideas Pitch Competition gave early-stage startups from the Southeast a chance to show their ideas—sixteen finalists were chosen from over 100 applicants across 10 states and received investor access and pitch training.   • The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources is upgrading 21 state parks using locally made materials like ductile iron pipe, which was celebrated at Lakepoint State Park last month. Commissioner Chris Blankenship said the water and sewer projects—part of a broader plan to use Alabama-sourced materials and support local jobs—will help modernize the parks for future generations.  Yellowhammer News
  • The city of Irondale honored Lt. Mark Alan Meadows yesterday by unveiling a road marker on Ruffner Road at 750 Ruffner Road + the marker celebrated his 30 years of service. A monument was also revealed at the police department's firearms training facility + the event established Lt. Meadows Day to remember his sacrifice.  AL.com

  • Former Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron criticized Auburn coach Hugh Freeze on his podcast, calling him 'full of sh*t' and saying he is trying to save face amid poor recruiting and program results.
