- ➤ Fountain Heights Farms Cooperative held a groundbreaking yesterday morning for Heart of the Farm— a new food hub that will offer a community kitchen, market and education space to local residents. - ➤ Birmingham Police Chief Michael Pickett said homicides dropped 56% in the first half of the year—37 cases compared with 84 last year—with an 81% clearance rate and added community tips will help solve the remaining cases as his department works toward a 100% clearance rate. The Birmingham Times
- ➤ On Tuesday, protestors gathered at Homewood City Hall to demand that officials release unedited body-camera footage from the shooting of 18-year-old Jabari Peoples—whose family says he was shot in the back despite police claims he grabbed for a gun—as officials explained that the video will only be provided to his family while the investigation continues. - ➤ Two 19-year-old Birmingham men—Auburn freshman LB D’Angelo Barber and Marcell Brewster—were arrested Monday morning in Dadeville after a traffic stop on US Highway 280 led officers to find two and a half pounds of marijuana, THC vapes, digital scales, marijuana packaging, $1,897 and a Glock 19 pistol. 6 WBRC News
