- ➤ Two people have been charged with first-degree animal cruelty after police removed 180 animals from a condemned Alabaster home—residents reported dogs in distress, prompting authorities to euthanize 119 dogs and nine cats due to severe health issues. 6 WBRC News
- ➤ John Collum, 56, was arrested in Montevallo on Tuesday on charges of hindering prosecution, corpse abuse, and tampering with evidence after he allegedly buried, burned, and hid a Ford Ranger truck and human remains tied to Oscar De Santiago from Pelham; he is held on a $36,000 bond. CBS 42
- ➤ Family gathered at a Birmingham park on July 3 to honor Demetrius Trannon, who would have turned 35, by releasing balloons after he was fatally shot on June 22 during an argument with his cousin in east Birmingham as officials ruled the shooting justified. AL.com

- ➤ A Birmingham teen was shot during an assault in Gardendale on Thursday and taken to UAB Hospital where he died just before 1 a.m. Friday—19-year-old Jaylon Jarriel Gregory is now the subject of an ongoing homicide investigation by Gardendale police. WVTM 13
- ➤ Calera police arrested two juveniles after one refused to remove his hand from his hoodie and was found concealing a handgun at a Waterford Clubhouse parking lot and another threw his gun near small children during a chase — both have been referred for prosecution and do not live in the immediate neighborhood. - ➤ Khan, an 11-year-old jaguar who has lived at the Birmingham Zoo since 2017, will move next week to Brevard Zoo in Florida as part of a Species Survival Plan aimed at increasing his species’ numbers—after his departure, zoo staff will update his old habitat for a new jaguar arriving later this summer.
