Good morning, Birmingham.

The Man Project in Birmingham empowers young men by offering long-term mentorship and leadership development, and it builds lasting bonds that feel like family (the organization now seeks new mentors via its website).

The Crossroads project is being built in Birmingham’s growing Red Rock Trail System, connecting Smithfield to downtown through historic Civil Rights sites (including Kelly Ingram Park and 16th Street Baptist Church).

The project will improve transit, safety, and community access.

Lightning struck a building at the Big Oak Ranch ASCEND campus Saturday on Cahaba River Road and local firefighters responded to assess damage (no one was hurt) while officials evaluate the impact.

Families gathered at Birmingham Botanical Gardens this Father’s Day weekend for the Safe Summer Series kickoff free concerts that featured live music, local food trucks and vendors.

Additional concerts are scheduled for July through September so residents can continue enjoying safe outdoor gatherings.

In Hoover, Julia Schumacher and Cambree Crumpton were crowned 2027 Miss Hoover and Miss Hoover Teen on Saturday, June 20.

Schumacher will advance her 'Be the Beat' initiative for CPR & AED awareness while Crumpton readies her 'Cam’s Cause' program as local leaders congratulate them.
