- ➤ Early Sunday, June 15, the Ballplay Blend Fire Department rescued three fishermen from a boat that capsized on the Coosa River by using a rescue boat, trucks and a drone—Leesburg Fire Department and Cherokee Rescue Squad also responded. 6 WBRC News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sen. Tommy Tuberville and ICE confirmed that last week routine check-ins at the ISAP office in Birmingham’s Southside resulted in detentions of undocumented immigrants, leaving families confused and worried. Immigration groups say the move sends a discouraging message to those following the law + that such raids in other parts of the state underscore a strict enforcement policy. The Birmingham Times
- ➤ The city has started drainage improvements along 26th Street South and Caldwell Park in Highland Park to reduce historic flooding. The $5.9 million project (funded by ARPA) will move in phases and may delay drivers until summer 2026. 6 WBRC News

- ➤ Alabama’s tianeptine restrictions have cut emergency calls for the unapproved drug sold at gas stations and convenience stores.
