- ➤ Alabama Power today launched three free online tools—Bill Explainer, Rate Advisor, and Energy Assistant—to help customers understand their energy bills and select cost-saving plans as summer heat increases energy use. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Birmingham City Schools is launching its free Sensational Summer Learning program for all Pre-K to 12th grade students, offering camps in literacy, numeracy, college preparation, and the arts. Programs will run Monday through Friday at 8:00 a.m. with meals and transportation provided, and the district hopes to serve 10,000 students this summer. ABC 33/40

- ➤ Work is underway today in Highland Park as crews start a drainage improvement project along 26th Street South from Red Mountain Expressway to Highland Avenue — the $5.9 million project is supported by city and federal funds and will continue through summer. WVTM 13

- ➤ On May 31, 2024, doctors at UAB performed an emergency c-section to deliver quadruplets born at 23 weeks and 4 days, breaking the world record for the earliest surviving set of quadruplets. The babies spent five months in intensive care and are now one-year-old while their family continues follow-up visits at UAB—proof of the hospital’s quality care in high-risk births. - ➤ On May 31st, 2024, UAB delivered the Bryant quadruplets who became Guinness World Record holders as the most premature survivors born at 23 weeks and 4 days. Their family celebrated the babies' first birthday on May 31st, and a team of experts provided emergency care—helping the infants overcome critical challenges—and continues to monitor their growth.
