- ➤ Over the weekend, a pedestrian was struck and killed on the 200 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive at 1:15 a.m.—he was taken to UAB Hospital and pronounced dead at 1:41 a.m. with Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates noting he was an adult white male. AL.com

- ➤ The City of Birmingham is asking residents to share ideas on its first Sustainability Plan by hosting free workshops to gather views on environmental, social and economic priorities. The sessions are set for June 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Botanical Gardens, June 5 from 10 a.m. to noon at the North Birmingham Library, June 12 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Birmingham CrossPlex and June 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Social Venture. - ➤ State Auditor Andrew Sorrell, a candidate for Secretary of State next year, said he is disappointed that the Legislature did not pass an election audit bill in the 2025 session — the bill passed the House but died in the Senate — and he plans to push for voting reforms like watermarking ballots to help secure elections.
