- ➤ The Junior League of Birmingham served over 10,000 people last year with 313 volunteers and $235,700 invested in 24 community projects across the city—helping improve education, health, safety and basic needs. - ➤ Starting in June, the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama will offer free, prepared meals and snacks to children 18 and under and provide food box distributions to families with children across central Alabama. - ➤ Homewood Fire Department installed a new $3,500 HAAS Digital Alert System on its firetrucks to send pop-up alerts through apps like Waze and Google maps when an emergency vehicle is nearby — the system gives drivers more time to slow down and pull over to avoid accidents. CBS 42
- ➤ The outgoing Birmingham Water Works Board approved contracts for key management positions (each with a minimum annual salary of $215,904) on their final day after Senate Bill 330 removed the previous board.
