- ➤ The 2025 Regions Tradition concluded on May 18 with over $24M donated to local charities and more than $3.5M allocated to Children’s Hospital of Alabama to purchase advanced equipment like the da Vinci surgical robot + host adaptive golf clinics that promoted inclusive participation. - ➤ Birmingham’s East Lake Branch Library will reopen on Monday, June 2 at 10:00 a.m. at #5 Oporto Madrid Boulevard after extensive renovations added a new elevator, foyer, restrooms, storage space, an emergency stairwell and a revamped auditorium—upgrades that boost its service for the community. - ➤ STRIVE Birmingham's Fresh Start program helped returning citizens gain job skills + holistic support through case management and training partnerships with Jefferson State Community College. - ➤ Jason Hamric, founder of Substrate Radio and a champion of Birmingham’s music and art scene, died at 53 after his wife, Jackie Lo, confirmed the news on social media. He hosted the show 'Meeting People is Easy' and worked as a cinematographer, audio engineer and musician—his work shaped local radio programming and promoted diverse music styles—leaving a lasting impact on the city's creative community.
