The city seeks a permanent and preliminary injunction that would impose 24/7 security, modern surveillance, and other measures to protect the neighborhood.

Birmingham sued Norwood Plaza Apartments, LLC and Tutwiler Realty (1717 32nd Place North) on May 23 to have the property declared a drug-related and public nuisance after years of repeated illegal drug activity and threats to public safety; the lawsuit asks the court to issue an injunction that requires added security measures, fines, and possibly the sale of the property.
