  • Wil Drake opened New Shoes, a soft serve ice cream parlor, in Homewood on Thursday, May 21, at noon— a new venture following the reopening of his former doughnut cafe as Full Circle after Pihakis Restaurant Group closures.  AL.com
  • New York-based StoneX Group announced an expansion of its Birmingham office and will hire 90 employees over the next three to five years. The 46,000 sqft facility in Protective Center will offer conference rooms, meeting areas, and employee amenities.  AL.com

  • Erin Jane Nelson’s solo survey exhibition “Living and Working” — on view at UAB’s AEIVA until Sept. 26 — features a decade of works exploring climate and aquatic themes and offers community tours, a July 7 workshop and Chamber Music on Sept. 14 before traveling to Knoxville in August 2027.  University of Alabama at Birmingham
