- ➤ Birmingham Water Works filed on Thursday to ask Judge Bolling to recuse himself from the civil case brought by business owner Sherry McCostlin — the filing cites his past contentious email exchange with attorney Mark Parnell and a long-standing adversarial relationship that could risk perceived bias. The utility, which serves over 770,000 customers, is relying on a new regional board to address its ongoing legal disputes. AL.com
- ➤ Alabama’s Legislature passed a law that gives police more protection from being sued and Governor Kay Ivey signed it after lawmakers changed rules for use of force.
