- ➤ 19-year-old Eddie Jordan Jr.—a suspect linked to a Tarrant murder on January 22 and a fatal shooting on February 5—escaped custody on April 25 after receiving treatment at UAB Hospital but was recaptured in west Alabama by U.S. Marshals and local police and is now held at Jefferson County Jail. - ➤ Birmingham leaders have filed a lawsuit in federal court against Alabama over Senate Bill 330 that changes the water board and may lead to higher sewer bills. City officials said the law lets elected officials double dip while the City Council approved a $1 purchase of the water system and hired counsel—steps taken to protect ratepayers and keep local oversight intact.
