- ➤ Local KultureCity, a nonprofit that promotes sensory inclusion, was named one of TIME's 100 most influential companies after opening its 1,000th sensory room at the Civil Rights Institute. - ➤ The Alabama Charter School Commission met Monday with its newest members to review five charter school applications and amendments, including an expansion plan for Magic City Acceptance Academy that would add floors to serve more students (currently 285 amid declining enrollment) and streamed the meeting on Zoom. 1819 News
- ➤ Trussville City Schools selected Transfinder’s routing products to let parents track buses in real time after Transfinder announced the update on May 4. The district, serving about 5,000 students in five schools in a northeastern suburb, made the switch to improve transportation management. ABC 33/40

- ➤ John Kinney, a staff scientist at Black Warrior Riverkeeper, was named an Unsung Hero by the Alabama Public Service Training Initiative (APSTI) on Monday, May 4 for his 20 years of protecting the river basin (by turning water data into tangible actions). Bham Now

- ➤ BL Harbert received a $3 million permit to build a new 110,000 sqft, seven-story residence hall at Highlands College on a campus off U.S. 280.
