  • William Rainer, a UAB entrepreneurship student, will graduate in May as he launches Aim Ventures LLC, a hybrid marketing firm for startups and local businesses. He secured a coffee shop as his firm's first client and credits UAB’s Barefield Entrepreneurship Program for hands-on experience through pitch competitions and mentorship.  University of Alabama at Birmingham

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Thursday morning, city leaders launched the Reinvest Birmingham job training program at City Hall after holding listening sessions (Pratt City, North Birmingham, Northside and Smithfield). Mayor Woodfin and city officials explained how residents can join training with partners like Lawson State Community College and local employers.  WVTM 13
  • FEMA announced $1.5 million will be allocated to demolish four flood-prone properties in Hoover as part of a Southeast flood mitigation effort. The project aims to reduce future flood damage & prevent repeated insurance claims.  ABC 33/40

SPORTS NEWS

  • Alabama native Peter Woods (29th overall pick by the Kansas City Chiefs) became the first player from Thompson High School to be drafted into the NFL. He won four state titles and helped spark the school’s championship run in 2019.  6 WBRC News
