- ➤ Irondale offers many outdoor activities with trails on Ruffner Mountain, bike routes on Highway 78, and canoe launches along the Cahaba River. - ➤ Authorities are searching for missing 14-year-old Rashad Hunt, who was last seen Monday night at 11:30 p.m. at his Shelby County home wearing a black shirt and black shorts (he is described as 5'11" tall and weighs around 130 lbs) and anyone with information is urged to call Investigator Gibson (205-670-6274). - ➤ The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office Vice and Narcotics Division conducted a proactive operation on April 14 in North Birmingham in response to local narcotics complaints, stopping a white Lexus coupe and arresting 43-year-old Amarie Roderiques Seals on drug trafficking charges while seizing 56 grams of carisoprodol, 6,814 grams of methamphetamine, the vehicle, and $5,794 in cash—Sheriff Mark Pettway thanked community members for their assistance—. - ➤ Birmingham’s new Coca-Cola Amphitheater is on schedule for opening June 22—despite accidental demolition damage that left an eight story parking deck unusable for its first season. - ➤ Yesterday the Birmingham City Council approved an agreement with Small Magic to expand early childhood education services for children up to five years old with an extra $250,000. The funding will enhance kindergarten readiness — using tech tools and coaching to boost early literacy in local neighborhoods. The Birmingham Times
- ➤ Birmingham City Schools is hosting two Spring Recruitment Events today and tomorrow to help prospective educators and staff meet district leaders, interview on the spot, and explore job openings for teachers, substitute teachers, custodians, and bus drivers. The first event is held today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Birmingham Museum of Art and the second is scheduled tomorrow from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at A.H. Parker High School. ABC 33/40

- ➤ Alabama lawmakers are close to passing SB268, a bill that would let grocery and convenience stores sell ready-to-drink cocktails like canned margaritas—SB268 creates a new license for mixed spirit beverages with up to 7% alcohol. - ➤ The city of Birmingham is partnering with Faith Chapel Care Center and Urban Alchemy on the Home for All initiative to help the homeless.
