- ➤ Birmingham police and firefighters responded at 8 p.m. Friday to a single-vehicle wreck in the 900 block of Bessemer Road when an SUV crashed into a tree, killing one man on scene and another later at UAB Hospital. AL.com

- ➤ A federal grand jury in Birmingham indicted 15 individuals for immigration crimes involving illegal re-entry and possession of a firearm + the charges are part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to shield communities, U.S. Attorney Prim Escalona announced Friday. 1819 News

- ➤ Season 17 of RuPaul’s Drag Race has run since January 3rd and Alabama-based drag queen Sam Star remains in the competition. Four cast members continue following episode 14 and local fans celebrated her progress at a watch party at Al’s on 7th — the finale will air on April 18. CBS 42

- ➤ Gov. Kay Ivey signed Senate Bill 199 on Wednesday—granting paid parental leave to state employees, public school workers, and adoptive parents of children under three—and the Montgomery-based Adoption Law Firm applauded the move. 1819 News
- ➤ Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries Rick Pate said the USDA named 20 counties as primary and 18 counties as contiguous disaster areas to help farmers hurt by a severe drought. Farm operators in these counties can get FSA emergency loans and must apply by November 25—loans are based on how much they lost and their ability to repay. Yellowhammer News
- ➤ Pelham has chosen its new police chief — Edward Delmore — after Mayor Gary Waters named him to replace Chief Brent Sugg who quit to support his wife’s career in Oklahoma.
