- ➤ State legislators approved an $800,000 contract for Firehouse Ministries' Pathway to Purpose reentry initiative today, offering housing assistance, job training, mentorship and mental health support to formerly incarcerated individuals in Birmingham. - ➤ Retired deputy chief Felicia Rucker-Sumerlin made history as the first female deputy chief in Jefferson County after earning a Criminal Justice Administration degree in 2011 from Columbia Southern University.
