- ➤ Birmingham City Council approved an agreement with ACIPCO to expand its manufacturing facilities and corporate headquarters; the company will invest $793.1 million to convert its furnaces to run on electricity (reducing emissions by over 90 percent) and add 80 full-time jobs. - ➤ Central Alabama Water Works fired dozens Monday after mandatory drug tests led to terminations for employees who failed or declined testing — the utility said every worker will eventually be tested, and a local attorney warned the abrupt action could conflict with existing policies. AL.com
- ➤ Birmingham City Council approved a termination agreement with the developer of the old Ensley High School, clearing the way for new plans for affordable housing + retail. The property, vacant since 2006 and damaged in a 2018 fire, still has $450,000 earmarked for redevelopment, Council Member Sonja Smith said. WVTM 13
