- ➤ The Community Affairs Committee is hosting the 40th Annual MLK Unity Breakfast at The STAR Church (7400 London Ave) on Monday, Jan. 19 to unite community leaders, educators, and residents in reflection and dialogue. - ➤ The Grove opened last November near downtown and now offers indoor and outdoor event spaces with add-on services such as audio and photo booth + ample parking, as part of the Social Commons funded partly by ARPA to anchor local gatherings. Bham Now

- ➤ Still Johnson Interiors has moved its award-winning design studio to a new space in English Village at 1903 Cahaba Road where it offers chic Midcentury pieces + a collaboration with Civil Stoneware. The studio operates Monday-Friday 10AM-5PM. Bham Now

- ➤ Customers in the 334 area code must use 10-digit dialing for local calls starting Jan. 23, as the Alabama Public Service Commission introduces a new 483 overlay (calls to 911 remain unchanged) to address number shortages in central and southeast Alabama. Yellowhammer News

- ➤ New data from the American Medical Association shows that Alabama reduced opioid prescriptions by nearly half between 2012 and 2024, with over 3 million fewer prescriptions (a decline of 46%) marking significant progress in fighting opioid addiction. WVTM 13
