- ➤ Birmingham will honor Dr. King's legacy with several MLK Day events including a fellowship breakfast in Irondale on Jan. 15, a Drum Run on Jan. 16, and community service on Jan. 19 — each offering a chance for residents to reflect, celebrate and connect. Bham Now
- ➤ Claudette Colvin, a civil rights pioneer known for refusing to give up her seat on a Montgomery bus at age 15, died Tuesday at 86 in Texas as confirmed by her legacy foundation—local groups honored her historic impact on ending segregation. WVTM 13
