  • The Alabama Community College System has grown into a key player in local higher education funding as lawmakers focus on community colleges for job training and workforce development. HEALTH NEWS

  • The Alabama Board of Medical Examiners began accepting applications from physicians for a medical cannabis certification permit on Friday. Physicians must have an active license and complete a four-hour course (offered by the Medical Association of the State of Alabama) before applying.  1819 News

  • Legendary coaches Nick Saban and Tommy Tuberville were inducted into the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Hall of Fame along with Ralph Friedgen and Gary Stokan on Friday ahead of the College Football Playoff semifinals in a state ceremony (71 inductees to date) that honored decades of college football contributions.  1819 News
  • On June 13, 2024, a crowd at Lake Mitchell watched Christy Swaid break the Guinness World Record as the oldest to perform a backward somersault on a jet ski — the champion overcame injuries and personal setbacks to earn the accolade and later launched the Checkered Flag Living foundation.  Yellowhammer News
