- ➤ The Jefferson County Family Resource Center will distribute free, healthy food boxes in Birmingham from January 23 and in Bessemer from January 30 during 2026 (pick-ups are 1-3 p.m. on Fridays until supplies run out). AL.com

- ➤ Kennedi Spurling opened The Pilates Dwelling, a Black woman-owned Pilates studio in downtown Birmingham in October at (212 20th St N Suite 203). The studio offers beginner classes that help people focus on mindful movement and build strength. The Birmingham Times
- ➤ Milo’s Tea Company closed its Homewood plant effective Jan. 5 and shifted production to its Bessemer facility, where most employees kept the same roles — 38 staff received severance and career support as the company modernizes equipment to boost growth in Alabama. Yellowhammer News

- ➤ Jefferson County Commission approved up to $320,000 in incentives for American Cast Iron Pipe Co. (ACIPCO)'s $793 million expansion of its Birmingham facility, which will add 80 full time jobs with $114,400 average wages and cut emissions by more than 90%. AL.com
- ➤ Hallmark Farms is set to become the Alabama Farm Center after receiving an $11 million AMLER grant to reclaim mine land and build facilities for livestock shows, rodeos, and educational programs (projected to yield a $2.2 billion economic impact and up to 850 jobs) in north Jefferson County.
