About this event
What allows an outdoor garden classroom to make learning come to life? Explore the essentials of creating a space where students can grow and learn by doing. In this workshop, we’ll dig into topics like choosing appropriate and sustainable raised bed materials, making the most of your growing space through design and intentionality, and strategies to enhance hands-on learning opportunities for students in a garden environment. Participants will walk away with resources related to the discussed topics and an achievable action plan to enhance or create a garden intended for food-based education. This workshop is intended for any educator who has an existing garden space or those who are looking to start a garden in the near future. Techniques and topics discussed are applicable for PK through 12th grade. Come join us and learn from staff at Jones Valley Teaching Farm, where food-based education experiences reached nearly 6,000 students last year!
